I have used dvd2one to make my dvd materials. As you know, it doesn't create chapters.. I copied all the vob and bup files relevant to the title screen and menu system back over from the original rip and do get a functional menu system.
My problem is that with the different bitrate setting, The chapters are off from the original movie since the size of the main vob files have changed. Is there a way to fix the problem?
It's my work around from not having menus from using dvd2one
Please concentrate answers to dvd2 one. I know instantcopy does the same but it takes significantly longer
Thanks

What ???
DVD2One does indeed retain all of the chapters present within the original main film. What it does not do is retain the original DVD's menu stucture or extras.
Simply burn the directory that DVD2One outputs to - to a DVDr and hit play on your DVD player if it does not autoplay.
Hitting the skip button on your remote will indeed skip forward to the next chapter .....Da MoovyGuy -
I sincerely appreciate your reply. I would like to include the menu because my wife likes it.
It seems the original menu works, it just doesn't line up the chapters to the original. Case in point. I have a movie with 28 chapters. The last two chapters are not functional the other 26 are but off key.

I understand what your trying to achieve, but I think that DVD2One is the wrong approach for you.
You would be btter served to used Pinnacle's new version of Instant Copy (v7.0) as it will let you retain the entire original DVD, while compressing it down to DVDr size. It will also let you choose how much each track is compressed by. It takes longer than DVD2One, but then again you are retaining the entire DVD.
Alternately, you could use DVDxCopy, but it only chops up a DVD, no compression. What this means is that based on the size of the movie, it may not all fit on one DVDr.
The only other method to do what you want get considerably more manual and involves the use of TMPGenc or CCE and IfoEdit. Very efficient, but time consuming and requires manual editing of IFO files. There are guides on this site that can step you through the entire process.Da MoovyGuy -
I guess intantcopy it is....
Is it possible to edit a dvd menu to remove links . Say I remove links for parts of the dvd that are no longer present such as french subtitles or trailers and such.
I do lots of personal video editing and dvd creation. I just don't know how to take a dvd menu, remove the parts I don not want and then replace and burn.
thanks -
There is a freeware program called Make-It-Easy that when run with DVD2ONE allows you to keep all the original menus and extras from the DVD.

Anyway, at least you have lots of options ...

So whats the deal with this program you just let it run the burn the output folder (VIDEO_TS) or do you have to use IFO edit?
Thanks alot,

If you mean with MakeItEasy4U added in, then there are extra steps that MakeItEasy automates for you, you only have to have the extra programs installed to make it all work ....Da MoovyGuy -
I gave instantcopy a try and didn't see a difference between it and dvd2one. all menus and chapters were intact. good enough for me on my 32 inch tv. it seems to work for averaged sized dvd under 6 gb, but I would not use it for over 6 gb because of compression. I woul just use dvd2one for larger types and just maintain the main vob files.
