Any remedy for a DVD player that constantly skips?

Is there any way to make my COBY DVD 507 player stop skipping. Every 5 minutes it skips (And i hardly use it. Only once a month and I have only played it 5 times). I have thought about buying those CD lens cleaners with a brush system but will that really fix it, or is there a better solution. This is my first DVD player and I am wondering if all DVD players skip? Thanks!

Yes, those discs with the brushes built in do work. I have one and have revived quite a few cd and dvd players with it. Some players are very sensitive to scratches on a dvd. My Sony 7000 is picky about that. I rented a dvd that looked like somebody had been playing frisbee with it. My player would skip while playing it, but the player at the video store would play it fine.
