Tested both after being late to the party and see this as a fair comparison.
DVD2ONE
Very basic - Copies the movie with AC3 audio and subtitles to one disk very easily. Also VERY fast. Leaves the chapters intact so if you need to move through the movie you can . Also outputs in standard format so if you want to do the NERO UDF/ISO trick to make DVD ROM, it is easy.
BUT
Does not offer to take extra features
Does not keep a menu
Rather pricey
Instant Copy
Very full featured
Allows you to select (with the hack or registry tweak) which titles you wish to include. Keeps the main menu and such for realistic DVD copy. Chapters, etc. AC3 audio, subtitles and can have multiples. The cost is a steal.
BUT
Very long running to convert
Doesn't output to standard VOB, IFO, BUP
Cumbersome non-intutive interface. That may be because it is the trial version.
In both cases, output seemed GREAT .
In my humble opinion, I rate DVD2ONE as good shareware but falls short of purchase quality
Instant Copy will take off big time...But pinnacle better get a few things straight like a download software link, software reg, etc.
So it

If you use Make-It-Easy with DVD2ONE you can keep the menus and extras. I'm doing it with movie and TV episode DVD's.

Nice post. Being that quality is almost identicle (some say IC is a tad better) I prefer the more simple and faster method. There are few DVDs that I care about the extras. I will buy the actual DVDs that are my favorites so I can do w/o the extras on all others. I love DVD2One and highly recommend it to all. Also, I would not consider $44 to be pricey at all.

I think the price of DVD2ONE is fair DVD2ONE is not share ware. DVD2ONe will back up the hole DVD later and we all know how fast it will do it. But then again I have no idea when it will be released. Instant Copy 7 some time's does not get a good picture with DVD's that have to much stuff on it like Final Fantasy My big fat greek wedding and the Matrix.THese DVD should only be encode for the movie 4.7gig's is just to small the only program i would use is DVD2DVD-R and 2000 to 8000 VBR and pass it 4 or may be even 10 time's. And I want to state that these DVD are not that great even if you watch the real copy so these DVD are not good for encoding. But if I was going to do one DVD2DVD-R or DVD2ONE. So far Instant Copy & I only use for episode DVD X-file's and so on

I just did a backup of the Patriot with both DVD2ONE and Instant Copy last night.
DVD2ONE gave me just the movie of course. It turned out pretty nice I must say. I just wish it included an option to include a select a scene screen without having to use another program.
Instant Copy gave me quite abit of control over what I wanted on the disc. I only ommited the trailers and subtitles and alternate audio. Dropped the other special features down to 40% and I turned out pretty nice considering all the insane compressing that had to be done. But I kept the special features and all on it which is nice.
I personally like both programs and found them very easy to use with the assistance of the wonderful guide found on here.
All 3 dvd backup tools out there DVDXCOPY, DVD2ONE, Instant COpy are all wonderful programs and all do something different to appeal to everyone.
Not everyone wants the special features so they have DVD2ONE.
Not everyone wants to use 2 blank dvds or minds a quality loss so they have Instant Copy.
Then again some people don't mind having the movie on 2 discs as long as they keep the DVD quality and special features. These people have DVDXCOPY.
They are all pretty good and I plan to use them all for one reason or another. -
I agree. All good tools. I sort of favor Instant COPY only because of the main menu feature AND the ability to take extras. I do that only once out of 100 (shrek is a good example, like the extra music video)
But DVD2ONE is just fine. 44 ? Why did I think it was 99 ? Maybe I am thinking of DVDXCOPY...anyway. Great tools and about time !! -
I just want to say that I purchased both. It still saves me money in the long run. Ive got a DVDRW so if I dont like the quality with one, I turn to the other.
Both good proggies in my book.

Yeah, this thread just goes on and on....
Just wait til the end of the year, when multiples of this
kind of program hits the shelves, like roxio and magix
etc, im sure there'll be something for everyone... -
Instant copy still buggy it shut downs while proccessing at times, granted dvd2one is not bug free but a least it does not shuts by itself , i'm not the only experience the unexpected shutdowns either.
