Can anyone recommend an avi splitter? I find that when I encode a large full avi with TMPGENC, by the time I get three quarters done encoding, I get errors and have to start over again. If I could split the AVI in half, then maybe it would be easier and take less time. Any help? Also, is there a better encoder out there besides TMPGENC

in TMPGENC you can convert part of the file anyway.

If these are downloaded avis then you are probably getting errors due to bad frames. Find the guide on how to remove them. You should not need to split the avi just to get it to encode.Originally Posted by dpoul34
As to a better encoder, CCE is much faster but overall quality is about the same and it has a much steeper learning curve. Mainconcept is also quicker but quality wise not quite up there with Tmpgenc yet. It also a bit easier to use than CCE.
Hope this helps -
Virtual dub is good for splitting avi's but I agree if they are downloaded then you always get bad frames.
