  1. How do I convert a avi to mpeg ...When I try using TMPGEnc, I get a message saying can't open or unsupported.....
    Under the properties of the avi, the video format is unknown....

  2. You aren't able to convert avis with TMPGEnc that give you that message, at least I think. If you have an avi that gives you that message and are planning to use that mpg for a vcd, just let Nero's auto encoder do the encoding.

  3. Can you play the avi with Media Player? If not, you most likely have a DivX file (MPEG4) and need to install the correct codec for your system to handle the file.

    You can find several codecs (DivX 3.11alpha and DivX 4.0 being the most popular) under the Tools link to the left.

  4. some of the newer films avi's wont open in the latest version of Tmpg to my knowledge, I had the same problem.
    Try downloading "TmpgEnc 12a" you should find it works.
