Batch / Job control and all that jazz

In all humility I searched this and other forums and did not find an answer to my problem. Before anybody bites my nose off I abjectedly apologize for certainly having not searched well. So I humbly beg for either a helping hand or a helping link.

How can I line up 3 / 4 / 5 "VDub MP3 freeze" jobs or TMPEGEnc jobs, launch them and go to bed, only to be marvelled at the results the next morning ?

Like I have these 3 avi files. I want each of them to be checked for freezes, the results captured in a file the name of which is something like "file 1 bad frames.log" ? Or I have these 3 avi files cleaned out for bad frames, and I want each to be "split" into a direct stream copy avi and full processing mode wav ? Or I have these avi and wav files, and I want each processed into a mpeg1 ? Or I have these 3 1.2 Gig mpeg files and I want each cut in 2 parts ? All this while I blissfully sleep away ?

Why I ask ? Look at my processor details. Encoding a 700 Mega avi file to mpeg1 on my machine easily takes 6 hours...

and while I am at it... I have this movie split into 3 mpeg1 files. How do I get VCDEasy to batch process them, each with say 20 equidistant chapters, to cue 1, cue 2, cue 3, while me and Mrs Jones autopad each other if you see what I mean ?
