i need help i downloaded a 50 file movie it came out as an avi xvid file. i dont know how to burn it to play on dvd player as a vcd or svcd there are too many how to's? in this help forum. can someone tell me exactly what i have to convert to? and where in vcd help do i look ? i need exact instructions or im lost. do i convert to mpeg2? what do i use tmpge? can i convert to mpeg with nero? and how?

First, if you have an Xvid file, chances are that the audio compression is.ac3. First load Virtual Dub choose File -> Open Video File. Then choose File -> File Information. In Audio Stream under Compression if it says Unknown then you are dealing with an .ac3 audio format. In that case follow this guide:

You need to use TMPEGEnc and convert it to MPEG1 or MPEG2 depending on what your DVD Player can play. You can not convert an XviD to MPEG with Nero. Read my XviD to DivX guide if you want Nero to encode the file for you. I prefer converting to MPEG2 since MPEG1 makes the AVI lose quality and I MPEG2 is more clear.
