  1. Closing update: Thought I had read of the existence of a URL for a firmware flash that would essentially render the Cendyne 105 fully and effectively a Pioneer A05 henceforth for firmware upgrade purposes. Have now concluded that I misunderstood whatever it was I read and that the point is moot anyway in that I have come to be quite satisfied staying with version 1.0 firmware on my Cendyne 105.

My current combination of a Cendyne 105 and Vegas 4.0 +DVD Architect 1.0 burns reliably at 2X with Taiyo Yuden manufactured media (Fuji) and at 1X with cheap media. From my reading of forum posts I have concluded that it is not worth the risk to flash to firmware 1.21 just to try to burn at 2X with cheap media.

    nice name ....explains the question....jka.....

the cendyne dvd writes out are actually pioneers that are repackaged!!!!

there is no firmware to "convert" because no conversion is neccessary

goto pioneers www site and u can get any firmware updates for ur burner, they will list BOTH a pioneer s/n and a OEM s/n

    ie cendyne dvr-104 = pioneer dvr-a04
    ie cendyne dvr-105 = pioneer dvr-a05

get it??? thats also how they list them on the pioneer site too...u can get "hacked" firmware, but i do not suggest it

    hope this helped

  3. yes there is. Get some scotchtape write "PIONEER" with a permanent black felt pen. "Firm"ly apply tape to front of Cendyne Bezel. "Ware" it with pride.
You are now the proud owner of a Pioneer DVD-R RW.

  4. Only Problem that makes a difference with the Pioneer or Cendyne packaging is if the drive breaks. If you can't return it to where you bought it, you have to go thru Cendyne to get it replaced or fixed. Cendyne customer service is lesser quality than Pioneer (don't know how good Pioneer support is but Cendyne's is worse.) But that's where you save the $50 (or via staples sale $150)
