I'm trying out VS7 and have an ATI AIW 8500DV card which has worked fine. I connect my Canon camcorder to the firewire and when I hit the 'Capture' button, VS7 tries to tune in the TV and then crashes.
I'm not able to get to the point where I can tell the software to use the dv, not the tv tuner.
How can I ever capture if I can't get to this point?

VS7 opens the capture device in the state it was last used, regardless of what program used it.
Try setting it to DV with another program then re-open VS7, it should now default to DV.
