  1. Hi all-

I've had this problem with two seperate movies, both divx AFAIK... Using TMpeg 12.i, the video appears scrambled, almost like watching a VHS while it fast forwards; completely unintelligible, but it still has the right colors, with diagonal black lines across it. I've got divx 4.0beta installed.

Other divx downloads come out looking just fine. I recall from the divx4 install something about it causing havoc; could that be the issue? Sure would appreciate some insight!

    TIA

  2. Well, never one to wait for a reply, I went to divx.com, and got version 4.01... that did the trick. I guess something a little goofy was afoot with 4.0. Anywhoo, hope this helps somebody out there.

  4. Hey Gav-

Well, I let it (Drowning Mona) run last night... side by side with another divx download (Addams Family). The windows properties dialog didn't show them to be any different - I think it might be divx 4 vs 3; seems it used to provide better info in the properties tab?

anywhoo - using a goofball SVCD template, Addams went from a 712M divx to a 638M SVCD. Mona went from 705M divx to 1,197M SVCD; I also got the 99% 'error encountered decoding audio' thing from tmpeg (12.j) My SVCD's always give me hell trying to fast forward or rewind, but as near as I could tell, both mpg-2's played fine.

I'm going to try running it again tonight in parallel, maybe playing around with the specs on one, the other with no changes. If it still freaks out, I'll chalk it up to a bad divx (it has a strange resolution

But, it remains true that going to divx 4.01 allowed me to encode the file; that's an improvement!

    Later-
