Where can i buy the Canopus ADVC-100

Hi, i hope this is in the right room, if not then i am sorry

I am trying to get hold of the Capture Card the "VideumAV PCI card" as i have herd it is very good.

However, i have searched lots of UK websites and cant find ANY which sell it, so does anyone know any UK web sites where i can buy this card (or a very similar model)

to be honest you can't have looked hard, and canopus list all of their uk dealers on their web site. oh well.....

If you can't find the ADVC-100, see if you can find a Sony DVMC-DA1 or DA2. They both are functionally equivalent to the Canopus device. I've been using my DVMC-DA1 for the past year now to capture analog video and convert it to DV format.

correct me if i'm wrong, but I think the ADVC-100 went down in price
(only slightely) ??

To bad Canopus does not allow stores to carry this item, or have they ??

I ordered my via on-line but by telephone. I was happy to actually get it
the VERY next day.

I think there is another outfit carrying something similar to the ADVC-100
too, ..by DataVideo i believe, but I can't be sure it it matches that of the
Canopus, ADVC-100. I WAS tempted to get it, but I was just TOO over
welmed by all the positive comments under this FORUM's
Capture Cards list that I didn't want to take a chance. I'm glad I
didn't !!

If you have enough computing horsepower you can use a BT8X8, virtualdub and the main concept dv codec to convert composite, S-video or the on board tuner to DV captures. I do and I have used IUVCR to capture with the Direct Show MS DV codec. (I suppose I could replace the MS with the Canopus codec idf desired) I trim commercials with vdub so I use MC and keep the dv type 1 so I can trim the audio too as vdub bitches about type 2 audio. I am using a 2.4b P4 overclocked to 2.88ghz and never get above 40 to 45% cpu usage. A mb and a cpu upgrade to me is more functional than a single purpose device but to each his own.
