Me parece que tambien hablas espaņol

Well, everything depends on the framerate of your source movie.
First, open the Avi in Quicktime and watch in the movie information at which FPS (Frames per second) this movie is played. 25 FPS, 23.976 FPS or 29.97 FPS.
If you see 25 FPS ... reencode the movie with the same Framerate (25) in FFmpegX. If its played with 29.97 FPS you also will have to use the same FPS (29.97) in FFmpgX. But if its a 23.976 FPS source you have to reencode it at 23.976 and use the 2:3 pull-down option in the options window in FFmpegX, so yor DVD authoring appl. will accept it as a 29.97 source which you can import for ex. in DVD SP and that it will be still played at 23.xxx in your DVD player!

An instruction for FFmpgX you will find at the top of the topics in this mac-forum and a thread I started time ago at:

  3. Hey Marcus,
Can you please guide me here?

    My AVI settings are:

    Format: DivX, 576 x 304 Mono, 48 khz, 16 bits
    data sizw: 476.5 MB
    FPS:23.96
    data rate:104.2k
    current size: 576x304

Based on this info which options should I have on ffmpegX?

    example:
    which tab should I use?

    video, audio, options, tools

Which settings should I use in the tab?

    Thanks,

  4. Go to the "quick settings" pop up. You can find at at the bottom of the FFmpgX window.

    Choose "DVD- NTSC Hight Bitrate"

Now enter in the calculator the size in Minutes of your Movie an that it fits 1 DVD Media. Press "Calculate" now the optimal Kbit/s rate is entered automatically in the kbit/s window. Chose in the right field 23.967 (NTSC FILM)!!!
Got to the options tab and check also the "Gop headers" option!
And!!!! the "enable 3:2" checkbox, cause you want DVD SP to accept the 23.xxx Movie!!
In "tools" you will have to disable the "autohr as ...DVD" option and enable "keep elementary streams". at the right side disable "postprocessing ..."

    REENCODE!

  8. When converting problematic .avi files to mpeg-2 it is recommended to run them into DivX Doctor II first (available from 3ivx.com) and to encode the resulting .mov instead of the .avi.
