  1. Ok well I'm trying something different and can't figure out how to get VOBedit to work correctly for what I'm trying to do. I have ripped 6 VOB files about 2 GB each (didn't rip with 1GB size so I could keep the number of vob files below 9). Well I want to join the VOB files so they will play one after another. Normally if you just rename the files starting with VTS_01_001 through VTS_01_XXX and run join them with VOB edit this works great but when you do this each newly created vob file is 1 GB. I need to keep the size up since the IFOedit seems to only recognize 9 (actually if I'm not mistaken 10 is the number that is allowed in the dvd structure). Anyhow VOBedit states it can handle 2GB files so is there a way to join my vob files and retain their 2 GB size? Has anyone figured this one out yet? Thanks.

In the mean time I'll continue to try and figure it out or figure a way out to fool IFOedit.

What are you trying to achieve? And how did you get 12Gb worth of VOB files? A DVD-9 will only hold 9 Gigabytes and that makes 9 VOB files, 1 Gb each.

There may be a way to do what you are trying to do, but what is this and why? There may be an easier way to do it. There is nothing on earth that can cold 12 GB of data.

  3. Its a two disc dvd set that I'm putting onto 1 dvd-r. I understand that the 12 gb of files is to big and I will be reducing it with dvd2one. I do understand that there will be video quality loss too. This is just a backup disc and I'm tired of also tired of having to insert disc2 when disc1 is over.

  4. No offense dude, but 12GIGS!!!! There is a way to get all of them reduce to a nice quality but the process is painful. Using DVD2ONE on 12gigs it's just a little too much...

You should rip all the vobs... run DVD2AVI > Save Project > Load on TMPG > IVTC > Save Project > VFAPI > Vdub FrameServe > CCE > Pulldown > DVD Maestro > Burn ....

I usually do all of that when I do anime SVCDs... The reason to IVTC it's to reduce the final size to the max possible keeping some decent quality. I know this is not what you want, but you should give it a try since it'll do a better job than DVD2ONE for such a long movie.

Actually, it is possible to fit the contents of two DVDs (even dual layered) in one single layer recordable. If the feature film has too many soundtracks and an uncompressed one, if there are subtitles you don't need (although subtitles take little space), etc.

However, the two DVDs are not interconnected and you can (and should) create separate streams (titles) for the film and each extra, etc.

What I'm saying is that you don't normally need or have to mess with so many VOBs in sequence.
