To convert video files to MPEG 2 format, for burning, useing Nero, is
there any way to get around buying the Nero MPEG 2 Codec Plug-in ? Or
is it essential to successfully burn SVCDs every time ?
If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it !
Thanks.

Dont throw away your money at the Nero MPEG2 plug. Nero is a CD writing application, not an MPEG encoder. Best value for money is TMPGEnc Plus. An mpeg encoder, that doesn't aspire to be anything else. The free version has a 30 day MPEG2 trial period.

Thanks for the info Mats, do you know where someone can buy the TMPG
- Enc Plus Encoder ?

Here. There use(d?) to be an ad here at VCDHelp for it too, if I'm not mistaken. Maybe Baldric gets some click points if you go that route...
