  1. So, I searched around for a nice easy program that would let me make dvd menu's and select a chapter list without any fuss. I finally settled on DVDit. It has such a nice interface which is really user friendly.

It took me around 5-6 hours to encode my avi file into an mpeg and then design all the menu and the chapters. Everything was looking great. Then I thought I'd burn the final masterpiece onto a dvd.....

....but apparantly DVDit CAN'T FIND my dvd recorder, which funnilly enough is sitting just below my cd-rom drive quite snuggly. So there we go, a lovely waste of 6 hours. Wonderful.

Can anyone shed any light on why DVDit can't actually 'find' something which is so painfully, obviously there?

All respect to DVDit though, at least it decided to throw in a new excuse for making my dvd burning life as difficult as possible.

  2. Is your DVD burner on the DVDit's compatability list?
Sonic may have an update on their website.

DO you burn with other software?

  3. Thanks Unclebud. Just went there and realised that my pioneer dvd-r isn't compatible. Well, that's just marvellous isn't it?! Tomorrow, I think I'll waste even more time trying to cook a chicken in the fridge.

Laserdiscs are cool, but laserdiscs on DVD-Rs are cooler.

  5. Yo' bud,
Make sure you use the right temperature setting in the 'fridge. You don't want that chicken overdone.

I've found DVDit supports few dvd burners.

I use it more as an authoring tool and Nero to actually burn.

  7. Haven't used DvDit but I'm betting there's an option to create the files to the HD. Once there you can use Nero or RecordNow to burn to dvd.

Which Pioneer drive are you using? I use DVDit! LE that came with Adobe Preimere 6.5 without any problems with my Cendyne which is a relabeled Pioneer A05.

  10. Thanks for the replies people.

Damn, the chicken won't cook in the fridge and I've been up all morning trying to get that sucker to raost! I've put it in the freezer now and hopefully it'll come out all crispy in a couple of hours.

Never even realised that I could save it to a folder and burn in a different program! Thanks!!
