  1. hi men,

i've got a divx (.avi format) with ac3 audio but with my ibook ( G3, 800Mhz,OSX10.2.3) can't hear the sound.(i 'm using MplayerOSX).

in order to encode my dvds to divx, i'm using Forty-two, and this freeware suggest the output format "DivX Near DVD" High quality DivX File (2000Kbps, ac3 700px wide)

But ,if i can't hear the ac3 audio of the divx with a mac, why Forty-two suggest this output format?

    thanks in advance.

  2. Hi,
Would suggest you encode yr DVDS thanks to ffmpegX. check XVID in quick preset and AC3 in audio section. Then you dl VLC here: www.videolan.org and your Ibook will be an happy laptop again

I would try VLC to play your Divx. I don't know why mPlayer wouldn't work, as it does for me. I would just try VLC and see if that works. I don't think it plays as well as mPlayer for Divx, but it still works.
