I bought a pioneer 105 burner and I bought a 25 pack of 2x riteks and my burner wouldnt even recognize the discs. It will recognize some dvd-rw discs and some fujifilm dvd-rs that I have. I was wondering if I should try the 4x ritek discs? If the only difference between the 2x or 4x is just speed then I won't waste my time. But if the 4x discs are better all around then i'll give them a shot. Anyone know what I should do?
Thanks for any help.

Hello Jacetx. What version of firmware are you using? Off the top of my head, I believe the latest one is 1.21 for the Pioneer 105. Now, I did exactly what you did. I bought the 105, bought a 25 pack of 2X Ritex DVD-Rs. However, the first thing I did when I got home was upgrade the firmware. After that, my 105 would recognise the 2X ritex but would only allow me to burn them at 1X. I learnt this the hard way after it took me an hour to burn my first DVD instead of 1/2 hr. Anyways, I took the remaining 2x ritex back to the store that I bought them from and exchanged(and paid the diff. ofcourse) for some 4X Ritex. These have been recognised @ 4X and burnt just fine using Nero and Recordnow and InstantCopy (However, the Nero Dvd wouldn't play on my standalone Samsung M301, even though I followed the setup for it to work). Anyways, everything has worked just fine
Well... I'm having problems decrypting but that's a different issue
Alright, hope that helps. Please post back your results.

Thanks for the help.
I upgraded my firmware to 1.21 and it still wouldn't recognize the discs. So I sent them back. I'm just wordering if I should even try the ritek 4x discs because it is a pain to send them back if they don't work out. Does anyone know what the difference between the 2x and 4x discs are other than speed? Are they built better or last longer? -
I can only speak for myself. I have the Ritek 4X DVD-Rs and they play are recognized and play just fine on my standalone(0 costers so far... touch wood)
