Hi all I just picked up my CenDyne DVR-105 from Staples and installed it in my system.

I've got three disks. The Nero Disk, WinDVD disk and a blank disk (DVD-R or RW?) .

Anyway does this drive have any drivers for it? How do I know what firmware it's running?

I opened Nero Burning Rom which oi had before the drive and it said it couldn't determine the maxium write speed of the drive. That's why i'm wondering if there are drivers somewhere I have to install. There doesn't seem to be any on the CenDyne website.

    Thanks

  2. Concerning firmware. If you use nero info tool it will show what version firmware your burner has.

My cendyne was manufactured Nov 2002 and has firmware 1.0 .

I do not intend on flashing it with 1.21. It runs fine and from what I have read on many forums 1.21 does not enable to write 2x on 1x media. Some have reported that in some cases 1.21 has prevented them from burning 2x that firmware 1.0 let them on certain media.

I'm waiting for a hacked firmware like the one for DVR-a03, a04 to burn 2x on all 1x media. peeps are working on it right now http://forum.firmware-flash.com/

  3. Are you saying there is a firmware hack out there that lets the Pioneer 104 burn at 2x on all media? Sorry if this questions sound dumb, but this just caught my eye.
