  1. Im using TMPGEnc
I have this one AVI that is 25FPS. that is a PAL

my DVD player only does NTSC.

I was wondering what would happen if I used NTSC FILM with a 25FPS video?

Another question. I also have another one that is 24FPS. what would that go under?

PLease give me information Thanks in Advanced.

  2. I get perfect encodes with 25 fps PAL avi's. This works for me:

TmpgEnc with a PAL template. ( I use a modified template)

After cutting, I use Nero and burn as a NTSC.

Plays fine in my Apex AD 1500 and Apex AD 1201 set as NTSC.

Had no complaints from anyone else that has borrowed them and used various players.

Actually, this is a very interesting question. Why don't you try it and view it with a software DVD player.

My guess is that you will get increased flicker (like a slow refresh rate). Less probable is that your player will play them at slower speed (just kidding).

I recommend that you have at least one rewritable disk and do (what I call) proof-burns. Test burn on the DVD-RW and try it on the recorder. It's much cheaper .

The problem, however, is what you want to do with the disks. You may have a very flexible and smart player and it may be able to play disks others won't. If that's allright with you, fine. Otherwise, it may be wise to find a friend with a less flexible player (I am told SONY players have built-up a reputation of not playing anything slightly off the beaten track).
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  5. I have not run across any 24 fps avi rips. I can't help you there. Possible that it is NTSC film but labeled as 24 fps?

I also assume that you are burning svcd / vcd to cd-rom not dvd-rom.

  7. Guides can be a good thing. This one looks involved. So many different programs and so many diffferent ways to apply them it can be confusing to a newbie.

I get perfect results using TmpgEnc with 25 fps PAL avi's. Luv 'em. NTSC film use to be a little jumpy until I discovered inverse telecine. Now on my NTSC film avi's I just do an inverse telecine first and my results have been great.

I like simple as long as it works. Using only TmpgEnc to encode, bbMpeg to cut and Nero to burn has been as simple as it can get. Every now and then I might have to play with the audio using another program besides the ones that I just mentioned.

If it was me and I had the 24 fps avi, I would simply load a NTSC template, check the inverse telecine box and give it a whirl. Before progressing to the 8 different programs, 12 different steps, 36 hour avi encode, try simple and check your results. If it is compliant and looks good, if it is non-compliant and looks good then keep with the simple.

Anyways as I said, Guides are good but start simple and then move forward.
