Does anyone know if there is a problem cutting from the start and end of the movie in the TMPGEnc tools window under the merge and edit tab?
The last movie I made the audio disappeared and the only thing I did differently was cut the first 30-40 sec. off the movie in the merge and edit window.

Does anyone out there edit movies in this manner?
And if you do, have you experienced any problems with the playback?

Me and my buddy Frink are the only ones in this thread, and neither of us are smart enough to answer the question.

Any info on this topic would be super.

    No, I don't.
Personally I always use this method to 'trim' little bits from the beginning or end of a clip, either before or after encoding.
What I don't do is join them together and then clip, this may have sound/audio sync issues.
What exactly are you encoding, acptured avi or a dvd file created from something like dvd2avi?

It's usually not recommended to edit mpegs. If you don't want the first 40 secs, "remove" these when encoding by setting source range.
I've always found the cut/merge to be unreliable at best, 'specially for VBR mpegs (maybe a coincidence) so I tend to split things in VDub before serving it to TMPGEnc for encoding.

  6. try using the source range button to trim the movie. This works well for me.

  7. I have the same problem when using merge & cut. The problem is that the original AVI file was already deleted; therefore, I can't re-encode it again. I have no choice if I want to trim a little from the mpeg file. I hope TMPGEnc will fix this problem soon
