  2. WindowsME can give problems if you use >512 MB of memory.

You can limit the amount of memory Windows uses by editing the ini file. You can read how on:

Yes, I have 1.5GB of PC133 SDRAM, and I used to use Windows 2000 Professional. Now I am on Windows XP Professional build 2600. In XP you can turn off the pagefile again, and it runs great. In 2K, you cannot turn off virtual memroy, though, you can only custom size it to be smaller if you want.

Condone is correct though, typing in capitals is considered yelling, and not polite. It is also 'harder' to quickly read, which is my main problem with it

As for your problem, yes Win 2K or (supposedly) XP will be the best for you. I have tried Win 98 & ME with 1GB of RAM added in increments of 256 - at 512MB both 98 & ME were fine, at 768 & 1024, it became a little 'flakely', and was prone to lockups, programs behaving strangely, and other random problems. It is suggested that 512, or a little above, be the max RAM you add to a 95/96/98SE/ME machine
