  1. Just did a reformat and installed Vegas Video 3.0. My problem is: I cannot capture 48Hz audio from my Canon Optura Pi, only 16bit 32Hz. The camcorder is set on 16bit/48hz and I have captured these tapes before at 48Hz, but now after I reformated it will not. Windows movie maker 2.0 also will not capture audio in 48Hz, so I assume it isn't just a problem with Vegas. I have started a new project with all the appropriate settings just as before.

If anyone could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

  2. What means you can not capture at 48 KHz? Is there no sound after capturing or sound with distortions? If there is just sound with distortions the problem might be that the soundcard is not capable to handle 48 khz.

  3. Sorry, It captures the audio at 16 bit 32Hz only and I can't change it to 48hz. I've captured these dv tapes before at 48hz with the same computer and equipment. For some reason after I reformatted the other day it won't capture in anything above 32hz. The audio sounds fine though and I'm using firewire from the dv camcorder into the built-in firewire ports on my motherboard. OS is Windows XP sp1.

  4. Seems someone else has had this problem over on the doom9 forums, unfortunately he never found a cure. The only program he could find that would capture at 48hz was ScenalyzerLive. This is also works for me, but I really like Vegas. Plus I know how to use it.

  5. You might want to double check the output setting in your camcorder. I remember seeing a choice between 32k and 48k output when doing analog passthrough.

Try DVio. Make sure that you are making a DV type 2 file. DV type 1 only has 32K audio from what I have seen. DVio will let you do either and is available on the tools button to left. Also try EditStudio from http://www.puremotion.com . It will also let you do DV type 1 or type 2. Fully operational demo is available from them. You might also try one of the DV conversion tools, to change from the type 1 it seems you are getting to type 2.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  7. I capture type 1 DV avi files at 48 khz without any problems. For my Sony digital camcorder, I have to choose 16 bit audio from the camcorder's menu.
