  1. I read recently that NeoDVD can capture, convert and burn directly to DVD disc in near real time (on 1.2GHz T-bird machine.

Has anyone seen it authoring DVD starting from DV video that fast ?

If this is TRUE, I should have seen many happy posts about this new software.

  2. I use NeoDVD alot to convert from analog video (not DV) to DVD using an AverDVD capture card. It does convert in real-time to DVD format but it takes a couple of minutes longer to create the DVD. Not bad really. It doesn't go strictly from capture to DVD in real-time, it uses a temporary file and writes it to DVD upon completion really fast to the DVD writer. It is one of the fastest to get a DVD written. it is not like the consumer DVD recorder where it writes as it captures but I highly recommend. The only drawback is the DVD format is basic with menus and titles in fixed locations.

  3. OK so neoDVD converts DV to DVD really fast. Can you tell me how fast it is ? For example on the 1.2GHz T-bird, is it a 1X conversion ?
How about the quality compared with other methods (TMPGenc, ULEAD, PS8, etc..) ?
I would appreciate the infos before I spend money to buy it.

  4. I don't know about DV to DVD. I just convert analog to DVD using neoDVD. For a 10 min video clip, it takes about 12 minutes. The benchmarks they put on their website is pretty accurate. I can't tell you if the quality is better than TMPEG but it looks as good to me.

  5. i use NEODVD...i could probably squeeze a little better out of TMPGE but for the speed i am with NEO...I have created many vids with TMPGE but the time is a factor....NEO in my opinion is a fantastic program and gives me very good quality....

  6. But if you want more sophisicated authoring, neoDVD (or plus) is a little simple. I bought it just because it imports VOB files, does that really well (especially when I'm taking PAL VOB files and want to convert them to NTSC.)

  7. Thanks for all the replies. For simple apps, neoDVD appears then to be a good choice because of its speed.
I have many VCR tapes (2 hour long each) to transfer to DVD. It normally takes me 12 hours total to get from VCR to DVD using a DVD burner. I tried with a DVD recorder before and it's real time, but the chapter points are so stupid (every 5 mins or so).

  8. I use NeoDVD Plus to capture from VHS then convert to DVD and it is very fast on my P4-2.53 GHz system. It's so simple to make a menu and add chapters or edit the length with this fine software. I wish I had tried it before I wasted my money on other programs that just don't work or are full of bugs.

Last night I used the program on a 5.2GB mpeg2 file to convert and make a set of DVD files to burn. It took NeoDVD twenty minutes to convert the files then I burned the DVD-R using RecordNow Max but I coud have used NeoDVD to do that as well. Great program shame they don't offer a demo at this time.
