    One word: Proprietary

That means they aren't compatible with squat, just the proprietaty CDRW drives that burn them, nothing else. Kind of like a DVDRAM cartridge or an LS-120 disk, usefull but it's not going to be used in other drives/players.

    Hello kenmo!

Actually I use the 99min CD-R's. I don't mean to contradict Gazorgan here, but I believe he is thinking of the newer CD-R media. The 99 min CD-R's are infact not proprietary. There may be some compatibility issues though. I can burn a 99min CR-R with my Lite-on using Nero for overburn. They playback in my APEX 5131 just fine.

When I was making VCD's and SVCD's I would use them. I really liked them b/c I got a little better quality for a movie on 2 disks. I believe I got my 99mins from CompUSA. That is the only place I could find them at a retail store.

    Later,

  6. I use 99 min cd-r's. Works fine in my three players (Apex 660, Pioneer 353, DMTech 2000).

    I order them from: www.AllMediaOutlet.com

If you are going to buy a new player, take a movie burned on a 99 min cd to test in the player. If it plays, make sure it plays the last 10 minutes. Why? The DVD-rom drives on my computers will not play the last 5 - 10 minutes. Not sure why. Although, it could be a problem with PowerDVD.

You can always use them as 90 minute cd-r's if you cant play the full 99 minutes.

  9. I Use 90 and 99min CDR's, but mostly 90 right now, cause i've got a 6 years
old DVD Player (Pioneer 525) and it doesn't play 99min, but all the new DVD
    Players do play them.
