  1. Just upgraded to WIndows Media Player 9 from 7. On some of my mpgs, playback yields a codec error, which I didn't receive in the previous version of Windows Media Player. On these video clips, the screen is truncated/squeezed horizontally.....opposite of widescreen. Within the Media Player, when I go to a help page to find out where to get the codec from the Windows site, it gets me to a page for TV play on an XP platform. However, I have WIndows 98SE. When I do a search on the Microsoft site for the YUY2 Codec, I get sites for codecs, but not one of these sites has YUY2 listed. Lots of explanations about codecs, but nothing specifically listing YUY2. Where do I get the YUY2 codec for WIndows 98SE?

YUY2 isn't really a codec, it's a way of storing color information (RGB is another way). HuffyUV is one codec that uses YUY2. I'm not sure that this has anything to do with your Media Player 9 problem, though.
