I have an All In Wonder Radeon and while I had analog cable, it worked great. But I recently switched to DirectTV with Tivo and now, it won't capture worth a cent. I use the built in VCR function and it has worked great until now.

My current set up is this...

    800 Duron CPU
    256 Meg Memort
    40 gig cap drive
    ATI All-In-Wonder Radeon capture card.
Computer is about 30/50 feet from the DirectTV receiver.

I have tried several methods but none have worked so well.

    1) First I tried spliting the signal with a coax splitter, but it was too weak and I dropped like 80% of the frames. So I tried adding a coax signal booster but that caused rolling lines which were just as bad.

    2) Purchased a 2.4 gigahertz wireless video transmitter. Works some times but picture is 2 to 3 times darker than the original. Sometime will get interference and drops 80% of the frames. Uses the RCA jacks for input/output.

Does anyone have any ideas? I am sure that some people capture from DirectTV. Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.

Is your PC right next to your DTV receiver? I think that is my main problem. My is about 30 to 50 feet away (which means a 50 foot coax cable).

  4. I can just use the timer do not use the VCr setting's you need to have SVCD VCD or DVD file also if you go to tool's there is a ATI reg hack to set bitrate's. I have the ALL IN WONDER and A Dazzle 2 and can say that DaZZLE 2 is must better it'sa hardware card and AIW is Software this is a great Dazzle site http://stop.at/dazzle2 the dazzle 2 might not work on some AMD board's so check the site also winPRV250 and 350 are good capture card's also also if you want to edit fast do your else a favor use MPEG2VCR it's the fastest editter there is better then the software Dazzle or ATI give's you and better then TMPG for editting

I use my Leadtek Winfast TV 2000 XP to capture from DirecTV. My computer is ~50 feet from the receiver. I purchased a 50 foot long s-video and RCA audio cable from eBay. My receiver has an s-video output, so I hooked the cable to the s-video output and RCA audio output on the receiver and patched into the corresponding jacks on the TV 2000 and all is well. I use the RCA video out on my receiver for my TV. Don't know if your card has an s-video input, but it works for me. Hope this helps.
