  1. I have been capturing my digital home movie using Studio 8 and make DVDs pretty well until last weekend iwith a video about 35 mins long. Everything goes as usual (capture, add menu/chapters, author and burn DVD). Except on the last step, Studio 8 said "disc burn failed with unknonw error".
I try to make disc (from existing image) and the same error popped up.

I tried again with a very short video (about 4 mins total), I can tell Studio 8 to make VCD, but if I tell it to make DVD, it will fail at the burn step.

Has anyone run into this ? Please let me know what I can do to fix this.

BTW, I tried to go to the Pinnacle forum (as I used to), I can't get to it anymore. How comes ?

    Thank you in advance.

I had Studio8 stop working correctly but I would attribute that to loading and unloading other programs. I ended up just uninstalling and reinstalling.

You don't mention what version you are using but there is also a new update available at their website which was around for a while as a beta version. I installed the beta version and everything seemed to work properly afterwards.

Too bad they don't do an upgrade on the encoder.

I had the exact same problem with Studio 8 and never did fix it. I can burn VCD's and SVCD's just fine. No DVD's though.

I really like the program and continue to use it for my capturing and editing. I save the files as AVI files and then burn them with Ulead Movie Factory 2. (I downloaded the demo from this site). Works great for me and it's not that much extra work.

    Hope this helps.

  4. I use the latest released version (8.3 and not the beta version).
Yes, this happened after I installed MyDVD to play around with. MyDVD does burn DVD and VCD, SVCD but it's very user unfriendly. So I went back to Studio and now it refuses to burn disc.
After unintalling MyDVD, the problem still persist.

I tried to burn the VIDEO_TS folder using NeroExpress and luckily, the DVD disc works fine in my standalone DVD player. Happy again.

Forgot to mention that I was able to visit the Pinnacle forum and this issue is a very common issue (about 50 folks complaint about it without a single acknowledgement from Pinnacle --- NOT SURPRISING, that's how Pinnacle behaves)
