  1. hello,
i'm using SpruceUp to create some DVDs. these DVDs have multiple movie files and I'd like for the 2nd or 3rd file to automatically play after the previous one has finished. Have not been able to figure this out (or see any where that it is just not possible, and search here has been down)
i can create a menu and add buttons that link to the individual movie parts, but for some movies i'd prefer to have just a "play" button and that starts the first movie and then when that one completes automatically start the second movie, and then the 3rd after that and so on.

any help would truly be appreciated. I think i can do this in DVD Workshop, but that app won't (from what i can tell) import m2v files and pull in the associated audio track. so i seem to be stuck with SpruceUp, which is fine if that's the way it has to be.
    thank you, marc

If I remember my SpruceUp correctly, you can't do this in the program - at least directly, because there is no "END ACTION" to be able to set (it just returns to the main menu). You CAN use TMPG's MPEG TOOLS to merge the many files into one, so in effect, you will go from one to the other. This, at least, gives you what you what to do and you can set your chapter points accordingly.

This is a crude method, but it does work.

  3. thanks for the reply SLK001,
i've tried the TMPGenc route, but always have had the problem of the audio/video out of sync after the first file (starting at the 2nd) so i haven't been able to use that. wouldn't mind that method if there wasn't those issues with sync.

    any other suggestions are welcome

  4. I had this same issue and the same problems. Unfortunately SpruceUp will not let you set the movie end behavior at all, as was mentioned. I was really getting into SpruceUp when I found out this limitation. I also tried a lot of different applications to join the MPEG's together, including TMPGEnc, but I always had major sound synch issues as you have found.

My solution? I moved to DVDit. I know a lot of people don't like it, but I like it just fine, works for me. Very easy to use, like Spruce, and allows you to set the end of movie behaviors (and menu defaults as well as lots of other nice features).

Anyway, the short answer is no in SpruceUp.

  5. I found this limitation with spruceUp, I guess if you are developing your skills to this level its time to upgrade I now use Pinnacle Impression which does everything that you find on commercial DVDs without a huge headache I managed to download a copy on the net make sure its not the SE edition this has a few limitations there is also Maestro which is Spruceups big brother but in honesty it was too complicated and long winded. Hope this helps

  6. Not a direct answer but I know that DVD Maestro (which is what I use to author my home DVDs) will allow you to do this.

  8. thanks again for the replies. I actually did what i was looking to do in Ulead DVDWorkshop tonight. you can right-click the movie files and set the "after play" to "next title".
ended up multiplexing the movies in TMPGenc (the movie parts, not all movie clips together) and then was able to use DVDWS since that doesn't allow stream importing. had to keep the movies seperate as i would have had the sync issue. so this is about as good as i'll get it from what i can tell. i will though check out Pinnacle Impression & Maestro in the future.
    thanks again. marc
