Capturing VHS using passthru feature

Hi,

I wanted to capture my VHS using passthru feature of my DV. The VHS is PAL 352x288 while the DV is PAL 720x576. What is the source format do I need to setup on the capture program? Do I need to setup as my VHS or DV? Any help will be very much appreciated.

I capture all my VHS at DV 720 x 576 which looks good when encoded to dvd mpeg2.

If you are capturing DV through your firewire port, you have no choice but to capture at 720x576 as this is the set PAL DV resolution. You can go down to 352x588 (or whatever else) when converting to mpeg. But the DV avi file will always be 720x576.
