  1. I have been using this method for awhile but was suprised to find out that not many others are doing it. It works on DVDs that contain both the wide screen and full screen versions on the same disk.

    1) Start DVD Decrypter go to mode select File
    2) DVD Decrypter will pre-select an IFO and several VOB files, you will notice that an IFO and sever VOBs of equal size(or very close in size) exist but are unsellected. Just select one of the VOBs and hit Decrypt
    3) After 2 or 3% hit cancel and then yes then no to deleting the partial file.
    4) watch the file in Windows Media Player. This is to decide which group of files are widescreen and which are full screen.
    5) Restart DVD Decrypter
    6) Now select everything except the group of VOBs and the IFO that are the version that you don't want
    7) Check the bottom right hand corner of DVD Decrypter and make sure the size is still under 4.7GB (it should be) If it is not you have a file selected that shouldn’t be or if it is just slightly over and you selected everything correctly than this method might work.
    8) Hit Decrypt
    9) Load all the files into the VIEDO_TS folder in NERO (or burning program of choice)
    10) Burn

  2. Holy Shit! This works, I just did Usual Suspects that I had on my hardrive, and it booted up in my PS2? Nice work, whoever you are. I*m gonna try Top Gun, I know that has has both.

  3. Have done this myself. Esp if you remove all except basic 2ch audio. "First Contact" is a good example but one like BTTF wont work. Too high bit rates and no simple audio. Or the movie is long like Halaula Trail at 2:45:18 seconds.

Most movies are short so it should work. One other problem is some times, chapters get a bit touchy also.

  4. I did The Usual Suspects and The Big Lebowski by removing the Full Screen. Both worked great. You just get a disk error when you try to select the version that you removed. But who cares about that.

  5. Top Gun worked for me as well, gonna try some more for my collection tonight. This saves a boatload of encoding for sure. Can't wait to keep experimenting.

  7. I tried to do the Van Wilder DVD using this method. I ripped everything except the 4:3 film and when I added the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS to RecordNow, it gave me an error and aborted the burn. I've really only seen it do that when something is wrong with the image. Any ideas? Did I miss a step?

Everything will be kept as long as you make sure that the only files you don't select are the IFO, VOB, and the BUP files for the full screen version of the movie. They will be grouped together and have a similar name like VTS_03_1.VOB. Here is what The Usual Supects would look like.

Notice the size is under 4GB. And, All I will lose is the full screen version of the move. (which I would never watch anyway)

You can call me a newbie :icon14: my question about your guide is on Nero. After I rip the dvd and go into Nero do I select dvd video or dvd data to burn the information with. I know it is not part of your guide but it would sure help my sound mind, lack of hair to pull out Thanks.

  12. This is a part from BARRY's guide on "DVD9 to 5 with DVD2ONE". I didn't link it cuase it said no links. It's on the main page under lastest guides. This is towards the end of the guide. It says:

    METHOD 2

Startup Nero and close the wizard if it opens.

    1) Select [DVD].
    2) Select [DVD-ROM (UDF)].
    3) Select [UDF 1.02].
    4) Select [New].
    5) Drag the "VIDEO_TS" folder to here.
    6) Select [Write CD].
    7) Select [Write]

It's says that this is the most reliable way to burn the DVDr. The DVD-Video option has worked for me so far (knock on wood).

  18. Thanks for the very prompt reply

I had forgotten that I recently formatted my hard drive and forgot to reinstall the DVD Viewing software. It works now, although this method does not appear that it will work for me as the DVD has 2 layers and is 7.7GB.

What are my options now? Something like DVD XCopy?

    Thanks again.

    Cheers.

  20. Hello! I tried this method with The Green Mile as my first dvd copy. The first disc played fine (first half of movie), but for the second disc I selected the second half of the VOBs (which would normally be the other version of a shorter movie). It loads at the correct part, stops a few seconds into it, then goes to the menu again. Once I select Play Movie, it starts from that same point again and plays fine all the way through. Also, with Catch Me If You Can, it's the same thing. It's not two versions of a movie, just two parts of a really long one. Only, this time, Both discs want to start like 4 1/2 minutes into the film. I can go back and rewind but why does it do that? If anyone can help me, I'd appreciate it! I'll never be able to make copies for people for gifts if it takes trial and error just to get the movies to play right. lol Thanks guys... happy burning.

also, I'm using Roxio 6 CD and DVD Creator Basic. I've been using the DATA project to burn them. I set it for ISO instead of UDF. Is that right?

  21. Ok, I think I found a way to do it. Once the whole VOBs are ripped, all that is left to do is make new BUPs and IFOs with IfoEdit! They play just fine... chapters and everything! I'm not worrying about putting the menus in there, thinking less files should mean less to go wrong, but they shouldn't pose a real problem doing them like the rest. Also, I've discovered that my Apex AD-1010W will play straight VOBs from a data disc, right from the folder menu it gives. It just leaves the aspect ratio as full, so it's not very good for widescreen movies, but will work fine for fulls.
