  1. How do I create, from an .avi file a 2 CD VCD without turning the .avi to an .mpeg.

    Well unfortunatley, unless you name is "GOD", in the words of Craig Tucker, you cant.

    Again: You can't. To create a VCD from an AVI source (or any other source that's not a VCD compliant MPEG), you have to encode to MPEG (see WHAT IS - VCD) according to some very strict rules. Since mpeg encoding isn't lossless, you'll end up with an MPEG that has a lower quality than the source, no matter how you try. Besides the inevitable quality loss in the encoding method, VCD resolution and bitrate also sets a limit to the end quality.
