I read the posts on this and it seems pretty good.
I want to get an external burner for my birthday.
When I go to allmediaoutlet it does not list this burner but lists the 500drua.
Are these the same burners but one is in an external case?
I need something that will be easy to use and I can get cheap media and use in my dvd player ...pioneer dv 434

Thank you for the answer...
Are they good drives? I read bad things about them a few months ago..I am not sure if these are better..
I would love to get one but I am still learning and dont want it if I will have problems..The 9 posts on this forum about it all liked it which is good.

It'll depend who you talk to, check all the reviews in the forum, but I have a 500a. In the first month or two after the release things were a bit choppy with the firmware and also software (such as Nero) needing to be updated to support the drive, but now things work hunky-dory. The only thing to consider is that it *is* a bit pricy; you might be able to get a drive that does what you need for less.
