I'm feeling awfully stupid right now...I have been cruising along converting and encoding for the last year , but this Xvid stuff threw me for a loop.

My original file is Xvid AVI with mp3 audio that is VBR according to vdub.

Every attempt to encode Xvid file using TMPGE results in a good 1st half but the 2nd half always has a lip synch problem...thought it was that one AVI file but I then tried with another xvid file that I had.

CD1 is always fine..its just CD2 that never turns out properly (bad lip synch)

I have spent many, many hours trying to re-allign audio/video but its just not working

I am using vdub to extract audio..audio is VBR

    1) open file
    2) audio<full processing
    3) audio<No compression
    4) audio<conversion<44100
    5) save wav

then I'm using tmpge to encode to MPG using the wav file as an audio source, and the original movie as video source.

tried advice from another forum and tried editting out bad frames using Vdub but the new AVI file was missing huge chunk of audio.

Perhaps you should create an audio file using Gold Wave. First note where the CD2 begins and ends in reference to your original video. Load your original video into Gold Wave. Use Set-->Marker function to highlight where the audio from CD2 begins and ends in this audio in Gold Wave.

    Select Copy.

Select New. Enter how long CD2 video is. When Gold Wave opens this new project, select Mix. This adds the audio to the new file. Save As CD2Audio.wav. Now use TMPGEnc to use your CD2 video as input video, and the new CD2Audio.wav as input audio. Select Start -- Voilá!
    Hello.

    ..."Gold Wave"...Allrighty Then..I'll give that a try...

Was just reading another forum and am also going to try creating File 'A" by editting out bad frames with vdub mp3 freeze, and then extract the audio from file 'A" with Vdub to create file "B"...then I'll use files A & B to encode in TMPGE....

...But I've seen this 'Gold Wave" mentioned elsewhere in these forums...will download it and give it a whirl....

    Thanx TommyMan for helping..

P.S. Untouchables with Sean Connery was the best one....

..okay..I reset my environmental settings in TMPGE as per guide here in the forums and also took out the NIMO codec .....then deleted the bad frames with Vdup MP3 freeze..then extracted audio from this with 2 different versions of Vdub. (1 proper & 1 hacked )...then encoded with TMPGE and they all turned out fine.

The encoded version where i had used the proper Vdub to extract audio, was perfect.

The encoded version where I used the hacked vdub did result in there being no sound in the last one(1) second...probably because I got a kernel error at the end of audio extraction, but audio file still worked in encoding process. (except for last second of the film)

...Thats all I can tell ya...I got this fle to work....now I'll try another one and hopefully there wont be any more problems or I will have to start an anti-Xvid website.
