I installed the Ligos Decoder but I can't get rid of it. There is no option in "Add/Remove Programs" and no uninstaller app for it. Neither the "Ligos Configuration" executable nor the original Installer offers an uninstall option. I'm sure it installed a bunch of files in the system32 directory, but which ones??

    should be a uninstall -- i think ..

also you can use DXMAN to unreg each codec ... http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/audio/dxman.htm

I've had a similar problem. The Ligos MPEG codec installed with a video editing app I had, caused playback problems when it overtook my other MPEG codec as default, but the Ligos codec wasn't listed under my video codecs, so I didn't know how to even uninstall it, and I don't know how you can make one MPEG codec the default playback codec rather than another one, if you've got more than one MPEG codec on your machine. The only things that worked for me were to uninstall the offending app and use System Restore :bandaid: . I'll be interested in finding out how BJ_M's (who got my vote as favorite mod, BTW) suggestion works out should I encounter the problem again.

    Keep us posted. encil:

DXMAN is awesome...it worked for me. I had uninstalled a previous codec manually, by removing the files in the system32 folder...but when I ran DXMAN, I noticed that the files I had removed were still "registered".

My only complaint with DXMAN is that I couldn't seem to unregister the deleted files....it only lets you unregister files that exist. I don't know if it's a problem to have registered nonexistant files.

As for Ligos, I didn't know the name of the files, so I couldn't manually uninstall. But, of course, they were registered, and DXMAN was able to show me exactly which ones they were.

when you have the problem of a file you deleted needing to be "unreg'd" -- try to re-install it and then unreg it and then del it ..
