Just trying to compare time to convert a 300MB .avi file to Mpeg-2 in
TMPGenc. I am running XP 2100 Athlon with 768 Meg of ram and it is taking a good 2.5 to 3 hours plus to encode this. Is this about right.
Any inputs would be appreciated. I am using normal settings for the most part with a few HQ on some.

It is not possible to answer this question as you do not give the length of the movie, or the bitrate you are using. We would also need to know the method of encoding, CBR, 2pass VBR?, and your setting for motion search precision. There are other factors that would affect encoding times, but these are the main ones.
