I have not been able to create a SVCD that will Rewind or Fast Forward using Nero 5.5. I followed the SVCD tutorial on this site and still it doesn't work. I downloaded the scandata file and placed it in the folder as instructed by the tutorial and it still doesn't work.

I even created a folder called scandata and it didn't work either. Can someone please give me an answer for this problem that really works. I have an Apex 600 DVD player.

    I would appreciate any help,
    ej

Just recently I was unable to create a satisfactory SVCD that would work on my DVD player. The disk had problems playing on other DVD players as well. The fast forward function wouldn't operate properly, with different results on other players. After getting to the point of giving up I tried the Ulead Plugin and all my problems were solved. All the functions worked with no kinks on my player and my other friend's players.

This plugin reminds me of Spruce in it's operation, I was able to create menus and chapters without reading a manual within 5 minutes. I kid you not this was the answer to my prayers.

This plugin also writes to a DVD-R and can create menus and chapters for VCD. For those of you who are tired to hit and miss give this Plugin a chance.

The only set back is that you need to have Media Studio Pro or Video Studio for the Plugin to operate.

I don't think you understand what I am saying, the problems I was having are gone due to using a better software. I use to use the keys similar to what you are doing, but if the forward is forwarding, then that is what it should do. Now it works properly with and the keys you are talking about work also. In other words the SVCD is working like it's suppose to

Nero and other Authoring packages seem to work in one area and not in another. Thats why I'm letting people know that there is an alternative that might solve alot of problems. I tired almost everything and found them time consuming and fustrating.

Ulead's DVD plugin seems to work the best so far, for me.

This problem has been discussed before.
The solution previous discussions gave me is to make a BIN of the MPEGs and burn the BIN.
It works, at last I can FF and REW my SVCD's!

  10. Nero sucks at burning SVCDs (and has some minor problems with VCDs). Nero's screws up the time stamps and this prevents you from ff/rew. To fix this:

    1) Demux your MPEG, and remux w/ bbMPEG
    2) Make an image of it w/ VCDImager, and burn the image (it's ok to use Nero to burn the Image)

You don't have to demux/mux but better safer then sorry.

  11. I bought my Ulead with DVD from Amanzon-set me back $90 not including $20 rebate. It is a great program that makes making SVCD seamless. Haven't tried DVD yet (no burner).
