I have been trying to make a copy of The Holy Grail w/o success. No method syncs properly and I've tried many over a period of a week.

Here's something I discovered tonight. There are 5 VOB's on the DVD. All of them are needed for the movie (I looked at each one with VLC). If you add up the total size of these VOB's it comes to 4.71 GB. However when I use 0SEX to exctract the elementary streams, the total size of them are video=3.81GB and audio 126.5MB.

I am very new to this and this may be a stupid question but could this be the reason for the syncing problem (i.e. that the sizes don't match the original)?

I am going to run one more test. I will extract as a program stream and see if the resulting VOB matches. more later...

OK using the Program Stream method, it produced a VOB 3.99GB. I don't understand...

  3. Are you extracting ALL the audio? Usually OSEx will do the movie vobs, and nothing else...unless you tell it to do the dvd folders or dvd image selection. Otherwise it does the movie and the audio for the movie. If you're deselecting other audio like french or dolby 2.0 (leaving only the 5 or 6 channel ac3... then of course the resulting files are going to be smaller.

Of course .. You're right. I feel very foolish. Thanks for the help.
Oh well, I still have the sync problem.
