I captured a movie from DirecTV in AVI format using Huffy compression. The movie had 5.1 sound in its original format. When encoding this file to MPEG-2 for the purposes of burning to DVD, how can I preserve this audio format? Do I first demultiplex the AVI file and then transcode the audio portion to AC3 using BeSweet? Once I've done that, will I be able to multiplex the AC3 file back with the video using TMPGEnc? I would love to have some feedback before I butcher this file!!!
