I went to the device mananger...sound,video and game controllers...Video Codecs. I select "Darim Vision DVMPEG v5.0 Video Coder". I click "Remove". and then exit from the device manager. But when I return to check, it is still there.
Please tell me how to remove a video codec in WinXP. Right now, I can't even play a MPEG1 (I think because of the Darim Codec)

Did you try to remove it from the System32 directory?
Hello. -
Yes, I found the *.inf file that was used to install the codec. From that, I was able to find the names of the files that were installed in the system32 directory. I deleted the files, and now MPEG1 movies will play.
However, when I look in the Video Codecs Properties of the "Sound, video and game controllers" of the Device Manager, the Darim codec is still listed. G-Spot also lists the codec as installed, but notes that the driver file is missing. The problem is that the *.inf also makes a number of changes to the registry and system ini, and I have no idea how to fix that. Can you help? Does anyone out there know exactly what happens when you try to uninstall a codec via Device Manager, so I can try to do this manually?
