  1. Hey All,
I was having some problems trying to demux multiple VCD's, convert their audio to 48Khz, remux, author, burn them all onto 1 DVD with a menu and have the sound stay in sync. I think my problems may be over.
    Here is what I did:
    • Took 9 compliant VCD files (44khz mpeg audio)

      Start DVD Movie Factory 2

Pick DVD as output disc - Next

Add the first VCD (DVDMF2 show the file as twice the size because it wants to convert it to PCM audio, full 720x480 resolution at 8000 VBR)

Change the settings on that VCD specifically using the Mpeg Settings menu. Change the res back to 352x240, the bitrate back to CBR 1150, and the audio to mpeg, 48000, 224 (this will bring the file back down to its normal size)

Click "Do not convert compliant Mpeg files" and click ok

The subsequent VCD's you add should keep the same settings as the first one you modified.

After adding other VCD's, click next and make the appropriate changes to the menu, background and sound

      Click next to test it

Click next, create DVD folders, and output. (this output should only re-encode the audio up to 48khz)

I then burned in Nero 5.5.9.17 in UDF 1.02 mode on a DVDRW and it played perfect...IN SYNC.
    hope this helps out...

Trying something similar right now. Trying a 2hr55min Svcd to halfD1 (352x480) and mpeg audio on a P4 2Ghz machine. I'll post again when it finishes, and if it works.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  5. Yeah...your converting resolution.....I think the way I am doing it is only converting the audio to 48Khz....

I am starting a 9 episode mpeg right now before bed....It looks to be about 6.5 hours of video.

I will check it in the morning....

It wont work with svcd mpeg2s and not even with xsvcd/cvd mpegs2 that are dvd compliant(for example 352x480/576 or if you use dvdpatcher to change the header). I tried several different svcd, cvd mpegs with 44 khz audio.

But with VCDs with 44 khz will moviefactory ONLY reconvert the audio, it doesn't matter what video settings I used. I updated my vcddvdr guide for this a few days ago. But I haven't replaced it yet cause I thought it would work with svcds(that ware "dvdpatched") so I changed to many images and it would mess up my svcddvdr guide.

  8. So your saying if I have a compliant DVD Mpeg2 (ie CVD) that DVDMF2 will want to reconvert the video??? even if you make the same adjustments as the VCD procedure???

hmmm...I wonder why it will work on compliant VCD's but not compliant CVD's or SVCD's.

    I might have an answer.
The VCD bitrate is set at 1150CBR to qualify as a standard VCD
The SVCD/CVD bitrate can be between 1500-2500 and still qualify

That is why in my steps above I checked the bitrate of the incoming Mpeg and matched it in DVDMF2 settings. This way I am telling MF2 that it doesnt need to convert the video. (I also check the box)

What happens tho if you add a SVCD with a CBR of 2300 and tell DVDMF2 not to convert compliant mpeg videos?? WillMF2 realize that what you are giving it is a compliant video?? It should, but to be on the safe side, I change the settings to MATCH the incoming video bitrate.

I will make 2 tests today.
    1) I will capture a CVD type mpeg (352x480 @ 2000CBR) at 44.1khz audio
    2) I will capture a CVD type mpeg (352x480 @ 2000CBR) at 48khz audio

In #1 if I match the settings to the incoming video, then it should only convert the audio.
In #2 if I match the settings to the incoming video, then it should only create the files to create menus and such

    we shall see.

#2 works as it should, no reconverting
#1 reconverts both the video and audio for me. Does not matter what mpeg settings I choose.

It would be great if it was possible to find a solution to svcd/svcd dvd...cause using only moviefactory is very simple and you don't get that much audio sync problems.

  10. Baldrick,

    I ran into a snag...
I can't capture at CVD settings with what I have installed (Winfast PVR and DVDMF2)

I cant get either of them to capture at 352x480 (although Winfast has a setting for 320x480??)

Also, have you tried to use the capture feature in DVDMF2??? I can't get the MPEG capture format to hold when I pull it down....

    thx
