I am using TMPGEnc to convert a DVD which is 2:35:1 - Anamorphic to SVCD and can't get the size to look the same as the DVD on my 4:3 TV?

The DVD plays back with big black bars at the top and bottom on my TV, which is what I want.
When I convert I get small bars and the image seems a bit squashed?
I have played with different settings but nothing seems to work?

    Please help!

  2. Hi there. I use Tmpg to make XVCD's all the time and these are the settings I use when encoding a widescreen DVD for my 4:3 TV:

Use "clip frame" to remove the top and bottom black bars from the video. When doing this with the following settings you should get nice black bars on your video just like the original DVD.

Under "video" tab: -set aspect ratio to 4:3 (ntsc/pal depending)
Under "advanced" tab: -set source aspect ratio to 16:9 (ntsc/pal)
-video arrange method: full screen(keep aspcet ratio)

I hope this can help you!

    Thanks!

I did what you said and I got a more letterboxed image than the original but it looks good.
