  1. I recently copied a movie onto my hard disk (used dvd decryptor), then used dvd2one to process the movie to fit on a single DVD , then ran IFOEDIT to 'get the sectors' and finally used Nero to burn the new movie.

My question is that I have managed to region zero the movie, but how do you change it's format to PAL from NTSC. The original film was NTSC and when it was played back on an old TV it played in Black & White! Yet on another newer TV it's in colour. At what stage do I change it, if I can ?

Also I noticed a lot of people talk of putting an empty AUDIO_TS folder when burning, well I don't and everything seems to work fine. What's the importance of buring this empty folder ?

I have the Pioneer 105 and home DVD player is the Sony 900V. I found the Balkpaq Gen 4 2xspeed disks although work on the pioneer , playback too, they just simply refuse to play (even when recorded at single speed)on the Sony DVD player and most other players I have tried. The Gen 3 1xspeed ones always work a treat and are cheaper ! Very strange. The GEN4 disks just seem completely incompatible with most DVD players out there.

well, the player showing black and white, sounds like it's hooked up to a PAL only TV. most TV's are PAL and NTSC compatible these days, but old ones aren't. simply change your TV type in the DVD setup menu from "Auto" to "PAL" and your DVD player will convert it on the fly.

Well, maybe. Many European DVD players will output NTSC format DVD's as PAL-60. This is a 60 fields per second version of PAL. Most modern PAL TV's will accept this and some older ones too. You won't really know until you try so Good Luck
