Ok...my first post...I've tried serching for this problem in the archives but can't find it...so here goes:

I've converted several DivX and Xvid movies to VCD with success so far...but now I'm trying to convert the <edited - see rules re: warez> I load everything up ( I extract the audio with Virtualdub first)...but then when I hit "run" Tmpgenc just disappears!..no error message or anything..it just vanishes. It only happens with this movie...I've just converted <edited - see rules re: warez>and several others with no problems. I've tried converting to VCD and SVCD with the same result...it just vanishes.

<edited - see rules re: warez>I've got is 701 megs in Xvid (But NOT with AC3 sound)...as I say I don't think its just because its an Xvid because I've already done a few Xvid movies with success. I've also got all the codecs installed (nimo, Xvid, DivX etc ).

Anyone got any ideas...cos I'm determined not to give up on this movie!

Those movies are not available on DVD yet - legally ..
Please do not post questions about non-legal material .

Maybe they are just not available in Canada and BJ_M is just bitter. However, I agree that it's not appropiate to unnecessarily edit other peoples posts.

    A few ideas:
    • Do you need to re-download Tmpgenc?
I wonder if you need to fix the sound and enode it seperately
Are you using the full version of Tmpgenc?
Maybe try to scan the video stream for errors in VirtualDub
Or even try frameserving from VirtualDub to Tmpgenc
hopefully one of those will work. I've never heard of Tmpgenc disappearing before.

Thanks for your suggestions Djmatty...I'll try them out and see what happens

Shame BJ_M hasn't got the decency to apologise to me for unnecessarly editing my post

  6. Open TMPGEnc and select the Options>Environment Setting.
    VFAPI plug-in tab.
Increase the priority of the AVI2(OpenDML) File Reader by one.
(To change priorities, right click the plug-in and you'll see the options).

    Martin.

oh sorry -- didn't know those were out yet in XVID format from Amazon -- in fact I dont even recall those were the movies you were posting about ... Not that that maters ..

I never realized Amazon sold Films In XVID format (or even DiVX as you so nicely pointed out) -- Now that I know this I will be sure to let everyone know (since xvid is certainly the most compatable format i've ever seen from a hacked codec.) ..

Normally we would have just closed this topic , but since it was your first post and it may be you forgot to read the rules -- I gave you the Benefit of the Doubt this time ..

But since you have an attitude -- I will just lock the thread ..

have a nice day sir ..

  8. Just to let you know you are not alone, and not going mad . I have also had TMPGEnc "dissapear on me" on more than 1 occasion after a couple of hours doing the first pass on a 2 pass VBR encode. Can't tell you why unfortunately as I don't know myself, but very strange.
