  1. When I try to burn a DVDR disc on my (Dell) NEC-1100A drive using
Nero, it sees it as a 2.4X speed drive and won't let me change it to
    1X. It is grayed out.
Do I have something set somewhere else to cause this? Or is it a hardware limitation?

    Thanks,
    Dignan

  2. The base speed of DVD+R/+RW is 2.4x so I don't think you can go lower than that.

Why do you want to lower the speed for?

  3. I want the lower speed because I just purchased 50 Riteck 2X dvdrs.

I bought them from shop4tech as was recommended in teh media forum. What are the chances they take these back? I'd like to exchange them for 25 4Xs.

What should I tell them? It seems that they will charge a restocking fee and shipping if the wrong item was ordered instead of the wrong items sent(at best)

Anyone want buy 50 Ritek dvdr's at a $10 discount?

  4. Holy crap. I just realized even if they were 4Xs I still be screwed.

It appears my NEC 1100A drive will only burn DVD + Rs.

    Yikes!

What is the deal with Dell anyway. They don't provide documentation with their new machines?

    Oh well.

  5. Yes it's a DVD+R/RW drive and all DVD+R media works in min. 2.4x so no need for slower writing speeds. You'll find documentation online here.

  7. Dignan,

Can't you exchange the discs you bought for DVD+R/+RW discs? It was an honest mistake on your part, I sure hope they will let you exchange it.

If they won't, maybe you can sell it to someone who owns a DVD-R/-RW drive.
