i've tried a few diferent brands of media, fuji being the higher end.

i've doned dvdxcopy, rip and ifoedit, makeitsimple, etc.
i've burned w/ nero, and gear pro.

none of them will play past chapter 19 in my portable dvd, standalone shinsonic, ps2, or in my dvdrom

they play perfectly in my dvdrw though

some of these movies are only 1.5 hours long and have only 20 chapters, but even then, the disk freezes, or the machine says it can't access the disk.

anybody got any ideas here? is it my equiptment?

Hey, since yesterday I'm having the same problem.

I always burn to an RW first, in case of bad authoring or whatsoever.

I used a Philips DVD+RW and all 18 chapters play fine on my PC and Panasonic 360 standalone.

So, to finalise my backup I make a copy on-the-fly to a DVD-R.
I used Nashua 1x DVD-R and Verbatim 2x DVD-R, yet only the first 11 chapters play.

I'm using a Sony DRU500A 1.0d and Nero 5.5.10.7b (haven't tried it with older versions, but I assume the new Nero works as good??)

This is a weird problem indeed.

That sounds so familiar. I burn to a dvd-rw, then check it in my pc (unfortunatly, the 2 dvd players and ps2 won't recognize the dvd-rw.)

so i burn at 1x using either gear 6.03 or nero 5.5.10.0. that dvd-r works fine in the pc too, but won't play past ch 18.

i've tried it in nero w/ udf of 1.02 and 1.05 (1.02 is supose to be more universal). the next thing i'm trying is the udf rom (udf/iso).

maybe that will make a difference?

  4. Did you cut off the end credits?

doesn't matter if the end credits are there or not - i've done direct disk copies, authored my own, and used dvdxcopy.

i realize the first scene/pic/fbi warning is a different size and can sometimes screw up the movie. that's not the problem.

my movies range from 19-42 chapters.
never fails - at chapter 18, the movie screws up, and at chapter 19, stops all together.

In my case I partially cut off the ending credits in chapter 18. (used DVD2AVI and Vstrip to do that).

I used DVD Maestro to compile and when importing the .chp-file I got a msg that "8 Chapter points" were imported (instead of 18).

I took the time codes from the .chp-file and created chapters 9, 10, 11,... manually within DVDMaestro.

I doubt if I did this incorrect authoring because the compilation on HDD and its backup to DVDRW work fine.

i supose i could screw with maestro a little bit. i wonder if it's the part on the disk the recorders don't like, or if it's the chapter points.

i wonder if i took a movie and made it like 4 chapters, then maybe it will play all the way through.
