  1. Hello,

I use OSX and Toast. I am able to import .mpg's into toast. When i burn them on to CDR as VCD's none of my three stand alone DVD players will play them correctly. All show as VCD and show the time total and the amount of chapters but only one DVD player will even attempt to play them (Panasonic RP-56) and it gets stuck about 1-3 seconds into the the video.

I have tried using different CD-r media and different CD-r burners and speeds with the same results.

I thought that if Toast accepted the .mpg ( and toast is picky) that it was a acceptable .mpg but maybe they are the problem. Most of the .mpgs are from the usenet group alt.binaries.mpeg.music.video

    thanks

Have you tried viewing the mpegs with quicktime before burning them ?

If you have quicktime pro you could try exporting them as toast CD Video to see if that helps.

Also have you tried the CD's in other DVD players, mine is a Sony NS305 and seems to work well with CDVideos I've burnt using Toast both on CDR and CDRW (but I can't get better than 320 x 240 resolution).

I am still on OS9.1 though, if that makes any difference.

    Cheers, Alec

  3. Hello Keel,

I tried what you said: I opened the video in QT pro and it plays fine. Tried to export it from QT to toast VCD and it says "Video track can not be found" What?

  4. I have the same problem. I have 3 episodes encoded by the same person. When using VCDBuilder/VCDToolsX I end up with one of the episodes only 10 instead of 20 minutes long. The two others seem okay.

I´ve tried your export solution now as well and end up with the same result: no video stream found.

  5. I've been using the "Toast method" for a long time, and this happened to me sometimes.
Most likely your mpg file has not the right size. You can check it in the tool tab in ffmpegX (I know, not everyone want to install it). If it's 352*288 (PAL), then your file is compatible and SHOULD be recognized by almost every DVD player.
Don't believe what QT is saying, most of the time it indicates 320x240 as a size.
The msg that the video file is "normal", at least it's not a bug It does the same even for 100% compatible MPG streams. As the mpeg is multiplexed, QT tries to search a different sound + video file, and cannot (as they are mixed).
An other way to test the compatibility of your mpeg stream is to use it in VCD builder, it will tell you if it is recognized or not. Otherwise, you'll have to reencode it with...ffmpegX (the best and most successful tool out there).

I hope I could help a little bit...
