I'm with you MackemX. I tried it last night on Pearl Harbor Disk 2 which is about 7.7 Gigs and has a ton of bonus materials. It took about 6.5 hours to create the .pdi file. I burned and played it and it worked flawlassly, everything worked perfectly. CCE on my computer is consistent with everyone else in that it takes about 3 hours to encode a movie. I going to do Pearl Harbor Disk 1 and see what happens. Other than the speed issue this software rocks!!!!!

Why do we need to wait til March to get this, can't we order it directly from their site? It gives you options to convert it to a English version. Am I missing something?

  2. Well it took 4 hours, its like watching paint dry but appears to work,

ICE AGE - Everything including full dolby digital with the demo version even though it said 5 mins only, decrypted with dvd decrypter then burnt using its own software, stuck it in my cyberhome 505 and away it went, quality no complaints really good enough for me. So the question is how bad do you want the menus and extras version speed of dvdone for just the main movie, I was impressed with dvdone, i am also impressed with this.

  3. Slightly OT here, but since comparisons are being made, I might as well throw out my n00b question. How would a high quality (2CD) DivX/XviD file compare to InstantCopy, DVD2One, CCE, etc.? I have an HTPC hooked up to my TV, so I can play any format video on it. DivX would be preferred because its smaller file size makes it easier to store & archive (at least 3 high quality DivX movies on a DVD-R). Just curious...

    Thanks,
    jawgee

Yeah it's weird! I tried it on "Enemy At The Gates", and I only kept the main movie title set and uncheck all the other ones, and the final image is only 3.4GB. Looks like it has a problem hitting the max size allowed.

  7. I'm still having major trouble with this program. Ok it analyzes the audio and presents me with a list of all the titles on the dvd. I click on the audio and subtitle tabs and select english only. I then manually went through each title and deselected the few that still has subs checked for them. Ok I put a blank dvd-r in my Pioneer A05 and it began to do its thing. Then it said writing failed, retry or cancel. Now why in the world is it doing this? I'm about to trash this program because so far for me it's been worthless.

Oh yeah, I did rip the entire DVD to an .iso file and loaded it up with Daemon Tools so Instant Copy would at least recognize it because it will do nothing at all with a video_ts folder for me.

  8. Yeh me too. I've run Instant Copy against a DVDdecrypted ISO file, it runs through the 5 initial stages and looks as though it is about to start doing so serious work, when pooffff, Instant Copy just disappears, no errors, nothing!! Great help...not!! I uninstalled, reinstalled, same thing each and every time. Guess I'll stick with dvd2one.

Just when I found a full copy of it on the 'net as well.....oh well!

  9. i have found it works fine with dvd decypter using mode file f, which will bring up the main menu then hit ctrl and a to select the rest of the files, then do the thing with instant copy, worked fine with ice age where the extras are bigger than the main film

find video ifo in decrypted film select, select dvd writer hit start and away you go

    sony dru500a
cyberhome 505 and playstation 2 plays perfect

  10. Hum... Been just telling DVDDecriptor to rip the whole thing in file mode also. Reboot and then run IC. Seems to hold through the whole process. If run IC just after ripping, I get a freeze some times in the checking phase.

Been leaving it in auto mode and turn off the "go to net" for transcoding since that computer is not connected.

There is a test burn flag under the DVD tab on the main window. I think its there or in the next tab over.

PS: Hope this helps. Was looking for the full manual and ran across their interactive support for IC.

    http://www.pinnaclesys.com/docsupport1.asp?division_id=1&langue_id=2&product_id=1153&p...py&page_id=74#

Click on the above link. And then click on "Please click here". Then finaly "InstantCopy" in the 2nd colulm near the bottom.

    Hope it helps!

  11. I really like InstantCopy 7 and it's an excellent tool if you would like to keep extras and menus.

I just have some questions. I just made a backup of Bad Company and I end up with 5 pdi files, can I just burn this file to a dvd using RecordNow MAX data mode, or do I have to creat AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS?

Then I wounder if there is a bug in this program because the finale size of the files was just 4.06gb instead of 4.33 gb!?

  12. Have not tried that ISO in something other than IC. Just told IC about the first and it did everthing from there. From other post sound like a std ISO file.

I'd love to contribute to this as I've backed up DVDs using the traditional methods and, more recently DVD2ONE, but the download server is well and truely banjaxed.

Has anyone managed to purchase this from the http://shop.pinnaclesys.com/ link on the http://www.pinnaclesys.com/ProductPage.asp?Product_ID=1153&Langue_ID=2 page?

    Regards,

I'm not impressed so far, slow to open, then when I try LOTR 1, already on harddrive from Decrypter (IFO) it says it needs 63GB and there is only 37Gb free on the drive. I have a fairly fast PC, I find this and the other problems disturbing.

I just tested it and it worked pretty good. It took about 90 minutes to convert a 8 GB dvd(2 hour video with lots of extra materials). The final size was a bit smaller than 4.32 GB though, 3.93GB but the video quality is anyway very good.

Now I have to make yet another dvd ripping guide....

  17. I have heard that you can preview before it burns. Quick ? Does Instant COpy have its own burning software that automatically opens and starts? Or does it launch Nero and start it automatically? How do you burn a PDI file?

espen: NO you can not just burn the pdi files in data mode. Why not burn the pdi files with instantcopy? Or you can convert the pdi files to .iso that you can burn with dvddecrypter or other burning tools.

mikihis: subtitles worked perfect for me but it may be specific for different dvds.

mikef07: instantcopy can burn directly or you can burn the pdi files. You can also convert the pdi files to iso and burn with other software.(next version of dvd decrypter will support pdi files)

What software currently is the best to convert a PDI file to an ISO. Also is it just one PDI file that it makes or is it multiple? If multiple how do you turn multiple PDI files into 1 ISO?

mike: Yep it will be several pdi files, but pdi2iso will convert all to one iso. pdi2iso is a command line tool, you basicly open a command prompt and type pdi2iso.exe file.pdi newiso.iso .

  26. How does one use this program? after installation what next? I used dvd decrypter to copy to hd, mounted with D-tools then in the source spot on Instant Copy, I choose the mounted image, I selected destination HD, gave it a name. Hit details and changed the DVD tab-custom resize(cause i wanted to be able to change things so that i could keep orginal menus) then i hit start. It took maybe 20 mins or more then finished. Gave me a number of .pdi files. I thought it was suppose to give me an option to change or alter before it completes. Next I tried to instead of sending to HD, I send directly to the DVD-R. It said complete, I put it in the standalone player (Apex 5100) and it played fine, all audio in tack. But near the end of the DVD it just froze and gave me a DISC ERROR msg. Also if I try to select the menus, it does the same thing.

I have an AMD 1800 system with 512mb and over 50 gigs of space
Please tell me what I am doing incorrectly. I want to try and use and keep the orginal menus, I know there is a way cause I read on here that others have done it. I tried the reg hack, but I do not have any entries of DVDMAGIC in there. However I do have something that says VOB and under that there is 7.0-copy etc.. I tried changing around some of those 0-1 but still no luck.
Any help is appreciated. A guide would be even better.

  27. Starting to wonder if there is a problem with this program now.

Have done about 5 disk since I downloaded.

Simply this is what I do.

I use DVDDecript in "File mode" and tell it to grab "everthing" on the disk and stuff to an area on a 80gb hd. I dont create a "fake" DVD but rip all files on the disk to a folder on the harddrive.

Start IC set all setting to automatic. Set INPUT: Hard drive and OUTPUT: to DRU500a or hard drive. Click on Start. It will ask where source is. I tell it where to find the "VIDEO_TS.IFO" file in that riped directory. If output to HD also type in a name for the PDI file. Or drop a disk in the drive and go. When done, you have a DVD5 version with menu's/move's etc.

If I did a PDI then to burn it just Start IC again set INPUT to that PDI file and OUTPUT: to the burnner. Click Start and go.

Have tried it on those nasty smooth chapters and even a disk with multi angles. All passed so far. On one test, UFO Disk #1, took 3.5 hours from rip to disk. Played very well. Have two that will really stress it out! Hope to test them shortly.

  28. One thing I would warn you about is the last phase of the Instant Copy burn...

The burn stage displays a percent counter (0-100%) on the main dialog. After it reaches 100%, you might think the burn process was completely finished, but you're then told "Finishing Disc". I thought this would take a few seconds, but it took a few minutes. After the first minute I thought the program had locked up, but, no, it just takes a bit longer than one (at least this one) would think. It would be easy to jump the gun and do a forced exit, thinking things had gone sour. Thankfully I didn't but I have to admit that I was beginning to think the worst.

  29. Bama,

You are ripping all the files to your HD, right?

From within Instant Copy, when you navigate to the folder for the input files (i.e., double click the HD icon in the left pane and navigate to the folder), does the dialog display the VIDEO_TS.IFO file, which is the only file that should be displayed? If not, that's odd. If so, just select that file and Instant Copy will process all the movie files.

I have no clue what's going with the processing beyond that, though. I'm sorry to hear you're having problems.
