  1. I am new to this dvd thing but I am taking a divx to a DVD. In TMPGenc and select the NTSC 16:9 option, what will this look like on a 4:3 tv? The divx is 640x272, and i want this for viewing on a 16:9 tv without having to stretch but i also want it to be displayed correctly on a 4:3 set. I always do the full screen keep aspect ratio.

So i guess in other words when i put this on a 16:9 tv it should take up most of the screen with small black bars at the top and bottom since it is 2.35:1 and on a 4:3 it should show the picture with big blakc bars at the top and bottom. Is this possible?

Your settings should work. Center, keep aspect ratio, and set your Source setting to 1:1, or 16:9.

Your DVD player should letterbox it on a 4:3 TV, and you already know what it will look like on a widescreen.

If you need to, you can tweek those options using IFOEdit, after you've cut the DVD image. You can change the way the player reacts to it. The options are simple drop down selections.
