Got a few problems playing an SVCD encoded in 2-pass VBR, max bitrate set to 2520kbps and audio at 128kbps. The video would freeze and distort and audio would go out of sync, etc.
I just used bitrate viewer to analyze the file, and found that the peak bitrate was over 3200kbps (including video and audio). This is far more than the 2648kbps max (video and audio) I should have gotten. I'm assuming that this is the cause of the problem.
How can I stop TMPGEnc going so far over the max bitrate? I can't use CCE, my Pentium 2 CPU isn't supported![]()

You can try encoding with lower maximum bitrate.
I always use max bitrate of 2450 to avoid such bitrate peaking problems.
