  1. Well I am buying a DVD writer tomorrow and wondering has anyone seen any instore deals that have not been advertised online with the likes of CompUSA, BestBuy, Office Max, Staples, Office Depot?
I am in the bay area in California and would appreciate any pointers to any deals. Budget is about $250 ex tax.
    Any help welcome

  3. Cool, thanks for the link,
Now I am just hoping that DVD +R work without any problems in my JVC XV-S300BK DVD Player, SVCDs have been hit and miss with it with skipping etc. I hope DVD +r playback works better with it.

  4. Just purchased the CenDyne DVD writer (Pioneer 105) at OfficeMax, $169 minus $50 mail in rebate, so cost $219. It has the latest firmware already installed. Only problem I see with the drive is that it write -RW disks and as far as I know my DVD Player doesn't accept these. But was a good deal for a 4x dvd burner. Closest I seen was the CompUsa Memorex for $250 and it is only the 2.4 write and rewritable, even though it is more compatible with it's +RW for my DVD Player.

  6. Well good news is I just burned a DVD-RW and it worked fine in my DVD Player, bad news is that for some reason it was not identified in the DVD writer. Weird, no idea why, writing another disk now and waiting to see if same thing happens.
Just happy that the DVD played in stand alone player, had lots of skips etc when I played SVCDs in this standalone and so hopefully DVDs will work better.
